Skoda Kodiaq Scout

Skoda India will be launching a rugged version of its flagship SUV the Kodiaq on September 30, called the Kodiaq Scout. This is the second time that Skoda is launching a Scout model in India, the first being the Fabia Scout. Coming to the Kodiaq Scout, the SUV will come with a few tweaks to highlight its off-road credentials. Among the most noticeable changes, the Kodiaq Scout comes with a new bodykit that consists of a slightly beefier bumper by way of the more aggressive siler-accented skidplates. The side profile gets slightly tweaked body-cladding and new 19-inch alloys. There's more silver accents to the grille, wing mirrors and rear as well. The interiors of the Scout get a wood and grey design theme with Alcantara seat trim and Scout badging.

Mechanically there aren't too many changes to the Scout. The version coming to India should still be powered by the 2.0-litre turbocharged diesel engine which puts out 150PS and 340Nm. This is paired with a seven-speed dual clutch gearbox and AWD. New should be a dedicated off-troad mode for the drivetrain which adjust the engine, gearbox and electronics to function better off-road and a slightly raised ride height.

We expect the equipmet list to remain the same as the other cars. So expect features like led hadlampos, keyless entry, push start, three-zone climate control, ambient lighting, a panoramic sunroof, powered driver and passenger seats, among other things. We expect the Skoda Kodaiq Scout to be priced between the Style and Laurin and Klement version of the SUV, which cost Rs 35.36 lakh and 36.79 lakh respectively.

Maruti S-Presso

The S-Presso will be offered with a BS6 compliant 1.0-litre petrol engine

  • The S-Presso is based on the Future S Concept shown at 2018 Auto Expo.
  • It will be available with a 5-speed MT and AMT options.
  • The S-Presso will use Maruti’s SmartPlay Studio touchscreen infotainment system.
  • It will rival the Kwid with prices starting from around the Rs 4 lakh.

While we have already caught multiple glimpses of the upcoming Maruti S-Presso, the homegrown carmaker has gone ahead and shared the first official sketch of the micro-SUV.
The S-Presso first saw life as the Future S Concept at the 2018 Auto Expo. On September 30, it will become the smallest SUV in Maruti Suzuki’s line-up.
As seen from the first leaked image, the official  sketch shows the S-Presso’s the upright front end with a high bonnet. The grille looks sleek and is flanked by boxy looking headlamps. This configuration could remind one of the Vitara Brezza. The bumper gives the front a muscular look, and overall, the S-Presso’s boxy design gives it that SUV-like stance.

Maruti Suzuki is all set to launch the new S-Presso hatchback in India on September 30, 2019 and we have got a fair idea of how it will look like, thanks to the recent teaser and some spy pictures which have surfaced online. The S-Presso looks bold and the upright face makes it look even more butch. Maruti Suzuki calls the S-Presso a Mini SUV and the stance reasonably justifies it.
It will be offered in four variants - Standard, LXI, VXI and VXI+, and these are in turn extended into 10 trims based on optional specs and transmission choices. As far as engine options go, it will get Alto K10's 1-litre engine which hopefully will be BS6 compliant. It’s a 998 cc, three-cylinder petrol engine that churns out 67 bhp at 5500 rpm and will come mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox and a 5-speed AGS (Auto Gear Shift) or AMT (Automated Manual Transmission Unit) will be optional.

The Maruti Suzuki S-Presso is based on the Heartect platform which also underpins a range of Maruti's new-age models like the Wagon R, Swift, Ignis, Baleno, Dzire, and even the Ertiga. It will be equipped with safety features like dual airbags, antilock braking system (ABS) + electronic brakeforce distribution (EBD) and reverse parking sensors. Moreover, Maruti may also consider introducing the 7-inch Smartplay studio touchscreen infotainment system in the higher variants of the S-Presso, like in the new Wagon R. The S-Presso will compete against the likes of the Renault Kwid and even the Hyundai Santro. The Maruti Suzuki S-Presso will be retailed out of Arena dealerships in the country.
